ART THAT I MADE IN JANUARY
I am in my butterfly era. I spent the first three weeks of January in residence at SPACE Gallery.
BOOKS THAT I ENCOUNTERED THIS MONTH THAT I EITHER WANT TO READ, HAVE REQUESTED FROM THE LIBRARY, OR HAVE STARTED READING
1. Extra Bold A Feminist, Inclusive, Anti-racist, Nonbinary Field Guide for Graphic Designers
2. Publishing now: GenderFail’s working class guide to making a living off self publishing
3. Bluets by Maggie Nelson
4. Stone Butch Blues by Leslie Feinberg
5. Take Back the Light: A Lesbian Visibility Lampshade by Donna Evans and Jean Carlomusto within Queer Looks: A Perspective on Lesbian and Gay Film and Video edited by Martha Gever, Pratibha Parmar, and John Greyson
6. Essential Dykes to Watch Out for by Alison Bechdel
7. Latino Poetry: The Library of America Anthology edited by Rigoberto González
8. Safer Places by Kit Anderson
9. Rachel Carson and the Power of Queer Love by Lida Maxwell
Many of these books I found thanks to the Brazen Bandits library portion of their exhibit at SPACE Gallery. The rest found wandering around PRINT in Portland. And, after a year of people recommending Bluets by Maggie Nelson, I finally requested it from the library.
